“What in the world are we going to do? Where will we hide this ginormous floating zoo?”
The incredible story behind this children’s book
When Covid hit and we were all locked inside, my mind drifted to Noah. Being stuck indoors was hard enough but being cooped up on a wooden boat with thousands of noisy, restless animals? That sounded like absolute chaos. I grabbed my phone. Inspired by the Holy Spirit, I began to write a short rhyming story. I also made a voice recording, mostly because I was curious and wanted to hear how it sounded out loud.
Two weeks later I was on my phone trying to delete files that were taking up space. My thumb was literally hovering over the delete button, ready to erase the story and its audio recording when someone called me. The conversation drifted from family reading routines to other pandemic-related topics and I happened to mention the audio sitting on my phone. They demanded that I send it over immediately.
I had no idea they would play it for their entire family. Apparently, their whole house went completely silent the moment they heard me narrating the story. Then they suddenly burst into uncontrollable laughter. They paused the audio and immediately called me back to say, “This is the best thing! When can you finish it?” That forgotten voice recording spent the next three years becoming the vibrant adventure now known as The Floating Zoo.

Built for meaningful storytime
Every laugh opens a door to a foundational life lesson from God’s Word without ever slowing the story down.
Noah’s temporary home is a literal madhouse. Together we explore how to navigate overwhelming days, gigantic messes and remarkably nosey neighbors without losing your joy.
Living together in close quarters is tricky business, especially when your brand-new roommate happens to be a remarkably grumpy lion.
Watch Noah learn to keep his cool when the energetic animals drive him absolutely bonkers.
Following a divine calling takes immense courage, especially when it requires building a giant boat in your front yard.
Even the tiny raccoons and persistent termites have a massive, irreplaceable role to play in this rescue mission.
The giraffes and lions create a hilarious lesson in choosing active kindness over surface-level appearances.

Hey there, I’m Shiloh
I love Jesus and I believe that our children deserve THE BEST. I left behind Parisian dreams of designing custom-made wedding gowns to answer God’s call on my life and embraced the unexpected joy of becoming a favorite Sunday school teacher to thousands of little ones around the world.
As a creative at heart, musician and storyteller, I am on a mission to break all the rules in children’s ministry and teach little ones the value of God’s Word. My background in Communications, Ministry, Design, Business and Child Psychology helps me create books that captivate young minds.
Originally from Zimbabwe, I now live in the United States and in the hearts of 35,000+ children I have ministered to or read books to.

Loved at storytime

“My 3-year-old daughter loves this book! The humor and creative pictures grabbed her attention and kept her engaged in learning such an important story. We ended up reading it four times in a row at bedtime. It’s truly unique, fun and I can’t wait to read it many more times.”
